Multimodal Picking Success Story
The January issue of Modern Material Handling reports on the Numina Group's recently completed design and implementation of a new 100,000 square foot consolidated distribution center for Schwabe NA. The highly automated DC utilized multimodal voice directed picking for pick to carton and pick to pallet picking requirements.
The decision to use voice directed picking was made comparing the ROI for pick to light, RF terminals, and voice. Voice came out the winner every time. "We looked at it as a significant return for a comparatively small investment". says Tom Krajewski, director of distribution for Schwabe NA.
